History

From Dudleys to Knights to Fusion
Throughout the 1970s and 80s, the building was known as 'Dudley's Brewhouse', which was run by the late great John Dudley. In 1998, 'Knights' was launched, as a nightclub cum restuarant. This went bust in 1993 and the building sat for a year at the mercy of the receivers. Then in 1994, local businessman Hugo Holmes bought the business and forced his son Rob to find an architect, a builder and re-open the club in 12 weeks!
Rob met the challenge and Fusion opened on June 23rd 1994.

June 1994 - Fusion (mark 1) is born . . .
400 capacity -2 bars
The original interior was designed by a local architect (thank you Roger!) and it had too many straight lines! (Thank you Julie!)

June 1996 Dance floor doubled
We had to make the dance floor bigger, as there was no room left to put people! This upped the capacity from 400 to 500 people.

July 1998 1st Naturist night!
Yes, we actually held a full on naturist night, with over 40 local naturists turning up to shake thier stuff! Not only did it give the naturists a chance to go to a nightclub with no clothes on, but Fusion appeared on Channel Four's Big Breakfast, and had a mention on Radio 1. Local people were somewhat bemused, but the publicity generated was huge! We may do another naturist night one day . . . .

April 1999 - GMP Design rip out old club
After 5 years, the club needed a refurbishment, so we shut for two weekend, spent £100,000 and started again! We enlarged the floor area of the club, installed bubble tubes, playstations and 20 TVs.
Thanks to the new licensing law, Fusion is now open from 11pm unitl 3am!! So just like the last 12 years, we are the latest, the biggest and the safest night out in the South Hams!
